  • There’s no hard-and-fast rule for when you need to replace your heating or cooling equipment, but here are some clues that might tell you it’s time:

    • A heat pump or air conditioner over 10 years old

    • A furnace or boiler more than 15 years old

    • Rising energy costs

    • Frequent repairs

    • Excess noise (like humming) from your systems

    • Areas of your house that are too hot or too cold

    • Stale air or increased allergy symptoms
