Get Your Heat Back on Fast

We always start with the most obvious problems first:

• Is your thermostat set to “heat?”

• Are your batteries running low?

Next, check these other quick fixes:

• Is your furnace power switch on?

• For switches with a fuse, is it burned out?

• Has your breaker tripped?

**Note: if you have a blown fuse or tripped breaker, you have a bigger issue that requires professional inspection.

1. Is your CO detector going off in the night? Call Fire Department as they are the first responders for CO detection. They can check the home and the detectors in case they are faulty.

If they suspect a furnace or boiler is the issue, call us immediately to get those repaired or replaced so you can feel comfortable and safe again.

2. Don’t try to reset manual safety switches in your furnace. Call us immediately because those safeties are there for a reason. To keep you healthy and safe.

3. Snow and ice around vents. Keep those clear so the furnace can breath and stay running safely and efficiently.

If you can hear your furnace running, but the temperatures are dropping, check your filters.

Dirty filters become clogged, which prevents air from flowing through your heating system.

Again, if your furnace is running and the indoor temperatures don’t reflect that, check the following:

• Are your vents or heat registers closed?

• Are they blocked by something?

Also, be sure to check that your fresh air intake isn’t blocked or clogged outside your house.

If none of the other issues apply, but you haven’t recently had your heating system checked and cleaned, it’s time to call for help.
